“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”
~ Luke 19.22
Snow is currently falling (we are talking proper flakes) and concealing the ground here at NLC, on this May 4th. Water has always provided a strong Biblical image for renewal, rarely in its frozen form, but nonetheless, the streams will be full this summer. We have been in a teaching series on spiritual renewal. We’ve discussed different aspects of renewal – such as a renewal of the mind, a willing mind. We’ve also engaged in conversations regarding a renewed heart and a renewed love for God’s Word. The story of Zacchaeus reminds us of the need for a renewed love for those who are seeking and lost. Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus, and Jesus made sure that Zacchaeus understood neither height (Zacchaeus was short and climbed a tree to see), nor depth, as Paul reminds us (Romans 8.39), could keep Jesus from seeking and saving those who are lost. We pray that Jesus’ heart for the those seeking and lost will beat in us for His kingdom impact.
